3.5.25. Installation of pistons and rods

GENERAL INFORMATION

Arrangement of trailer gaps of the bearing

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Clean the top insert of the bearing of a rod and establish it on a rod. Lubricant openings of a rod and an insert have to be combined.
2. Clean the second insert and establish it in a rod cover.
3. Arrange trailer gaps of piston rings as shown in the drawing.
4. Grease pistons and rings and squeeze piston rings by means of the compressor of piston rings.
5. Turn a bent shaft so that the conrod bearing of the first cylinder was in the family way of the lower dead point, and grease cylinder walls.
6. Check that the mark from above of the piston was turned forward.
7. Press on the piston and install it in the cylinder.
8. For measurement of a lubricant gap it is possible to use an internal micrometer or other special device, but the most exact and easy method it - to use the special plastic measuring instrument.
9. After installation of the piston in the cylinder, tighten bolts of covers of rods, and check a lubricant gap of the conrod bearing. Put plastic pieces on each of bearings of rods parallel to an axis of a bent shaft.
10. Compare width of the crushed film to a special scale.
11. If the size of a gap do not correspond demanded probably inserts of the wrong size are established.

Final installation of pistons and rods

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove all traces of plastic. Check that the surface of inserts was absolutely pure, and oil them engine.
2. Establish a rod on a shaft neck, establish a cover of a rod and tighten nuts till the required inhaling moment.
3. Installation of other rods is carried out similarly.
4. After installation of all rods turn a bent shaft several times and check ease of the course.
5. Check an axial side play of rods.
