3.2.4. Top dead point

GENERAL INFORMATION

The top dead point, is the highest point which is reached by each of pistons in operating time of the engine. Usually the highest point which is reached by the N1 piston at the time of a compression step is accepted to VMT.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To install the piston in VMT, install the gear shifting lever in neutral situation, put the car on the emergency brake and block back wheels. To disconnect system of ignition, disconnect wires from the ignition coil. Unscrew spark plugs and disconnect fuel system.
Models of 1997 and earlier release
2. Remember an arrangement of contact of a wire of the first spark plug on an ignition distributor cover.
3. Uncover the distributor.
4. Make a mark in the distributor where the contact of the first cylinder is located.
5. Turn a bent shaft clockwise to combine a cut on a pulley of a bent shaft with a synchronizing tag.
6. The rotor of the distributor has to specify towards the tag made by you.
7. If the rotor is turned on 180 ° in relation to a tag, so the piston is in release step VMT.
8. To move the piston to compression step VMT, turn a bent shaft clockwise on one whole revolution (360 °).
Models of 1998.
9. Models of 1998 are equipped with the systems of ignition which are not including the distributor. To install the piston in VMT, unscrew a candle of the first cylinder and twist pressure measuring instrument in its opening.
10. Turn a bent shaft. When the N1 piston approaches compression step VMT, the measuring instrument will show compression pressure. Continue to turn a bent shaft until the cut in an asterisk of a bent shaft is combined with a synchronizing tag.
All models
11. After you installed the N1 piston in VMT, you can establish in VMT (according to the sequence of operation of cylinders) each of the remained pistons, having turned a bent shaft on 90 °.
